DuoMAG MP-Dual

DuoMAG MP-Dual

Delivering repeated pairs of monophasic pulses to two cortical regions over short periods has become a very popular method of exploring intra-cortical circuits in the human brain. ‘Paired Pulse’ stimulation is a method achieved by delivering two monophasic pulses in very quick succession.

By pairing two DuoMAG MP stimulators through an intelligent combining module, the DuoMAG MP-Dual offers unrivalled performance and flexibility for the application of both paired pulse and twin coil stimulation. A combining module also allows for both stimulators to be split into two DuoMAG MP units. The native DuoMAG software enables the system to be used in three separate modes - Pair, where the stimulators operate as primary and secondary stimulators with one triggering the other at a defined interval either through one or two coils; Independent, where both stimulators can be operated separately of each other, again, through one or two coils, and Dual, where the output of both stimulators can be combined through a single coil to deliver a pulse equivalent of 134% of a single DuoMAG MP.

The quick recharge rate of the DuoMAG capacitor allows for a maximum frequency rate of 4Hz and 1Hz stimulation at 95% stimulator output. Additionally, it is possible to define a capacitor ‘recharge delay’ for applications where ppTMS is combined with EEG recording to allow for a period of ‘clean’ EEG shortly after the delivery of the TMS pulse.

USB and TTL connections on the reverse of the stimulator module allow for novel programmes such as QTrac or C.E.D’s Signal software to control the device externally.

PAIRED, INDEPENDENT, AND DUAL-STIM MODES

The propriety DuoMAG MP-Dual software allows the user to use the device in three different stimulation modes:

Paired Mode

Paired Mode

Conventional paired pulse where Stimulator 1 triggers stimulator 2 with a defined ISI.

Independent Mode

Independent Mode

Where the user can individually set the intensities of, and trigger, all connected stimulators independently of one another.

Dual-Stim Mode

Dual-Stim Mode

Where both stimulators combine to deliver a pulse with the equivalent of 135% the power of a single stimulator. Each of these modes can be configured with single or twin coil set-ups to support interhemispheric (bilateral) stimulation.

NUMEROUS INTERFACE OPTIONS

The DuoMAG MP-Dual is easy to interface different equipment to, due to the accessible connectivity provided by USB2.0 and TTL ports on each stimulator. Both the intensity and triggering can be controlled externally by systems such as Signal, Matlab & Python.

CONFIGURABLE PULSE PARAMETERS

For studies which explore intracortical inhibition or facilitation, the MP-Dual is capable of delivering pairs of pulses with an ISI of as low as 0.1ms between the range of 0.1 and 100ms. A quick capacitor recharge time also allows for a maximum stimulation frequency of 4Hz.

EASILY CONTROLLABLE

The stimulator can be controlled from the coil handle, optional Windows-based touch screen interface, or triggered externally, with external communications supported via TTL in/out and USB.

HIGH STIMULATOR OUTPUT

A software ‘boost’ mode allows both of the stimulators can be combined through a single coil to deliver a pulse with the equivalent output of 134% of a single stimulator.

CE-CERTIFIED

CE-CertifiedThe DuoMAG MP system is a CE-certified medical device for non-invasive brain stimulation in humans. It is limited to investigational and research use in the USA.
