ITRUSST Group Launched for Transcranial Focused Ultrasound Safety and Standards

In an exciting development for users of transcranial focused ultrasound neuromodulation (tFUS/TUS) techniques, this week has seen the launch of the International Expert Group on Transcranial Ultrasonic Stimulation Safety and Standards (ITRUSST).

The group, comprised of key TUS researchers - including, amongst others, Dr Lennart Verhagen (Donders Institute) and Dr Jean François Aubry (ESPCI ParisTech) - industry partners, regulatory bodies, and agencies, will seek to establish a series of agreed guidelines for all researchers using non-invasive ultrasound neuromodulation techniques, covering reporting, safety, ethics, experiments, and clinical trials.

With the rapid rise in popularity of transcranial focused ultrasound in non-invasive brain stimulation research in recent years, the ITRUSST group will lead the way in creating an agreed-upon standardised set of guidelines and recommendations for all researchers using TUS in humans.

We are very excited to see the results of ITRUSST's work at Brainbox, and, as part of our ongoing dedication to supporting world-class neuroscience research, we are honoured to be able to lend our industry knowledge to the group wherever we can.
