DuoMAG TMS Coils
All DuoMAG coils include stimulator controls for triggering and are ergonomically designed for both user and participant comfort. Brainbox are proud to offer coils with such a wide variety of applications including standard coils for thresholding, air and liquid cooled coils for longer protocols, placebo coils for blinded studies and custom solutions for when you can’t find a coil to meet your requirements.
Choosing a DuoMAG TMS coil:
DuoMAG coil names consist of a description of the coil size, shape and sometimes, handle orientation. Typically, coils are referred to as a number denoting the size of the winding, followed by one or two letters, which denote the shape or type of coil (BF being butterfly, and R being round). The letter T always refers to a T shape handle orientation, and finally, the letters LQC refer to the coil being a liquid-cooled coil.

DuoMAG 30BFT Coil
Figure of eight butterfly coil with 2x 30mm windings and perpendicular orientation handle. Suitable for very focused cortical stimulation, particularly in animal studies. Anderson connector for compatibility across the DuoMAG range.
DuoMAG 50BF Coil
Figure-of-eight butterfly coil with 2 x 50mm windings. Suitable for very focused, cortical stimulation and twin-coil applications, where two coils are used to target two regions in close proximity to each other. Anderson connector for compatibility across the DuoMAG range.
DuoMAG 50BFT Coil
Figure of eight butterfly coil with 2x 50mm windings. Suitable for very focussed cortical stimulation. Perpendicular oriented handles allow two coils to be positioned closer than standard butterfly coils. Applications include twin coil studies where two coils are used to target two regions in close proximity to each other.
DuoMAG 60BF LQC Coil
Figure of 8 coil with two 60mm windings. Suitable for focussed cortical stimulation during heavy dose or repetitive rTMS. Active liquid cooling provides range topping cooling performance during rTMS and paired-pulse protocols.
DuoMAG 70BF Coil
Figure of eight butterfly coil with 2 x 70mm windings. Suitable for focused, cortical stimulation. Available with reversed windings for simulating PA/AP comparison studies. Anderson connector for compatibility across the DuoMAG range
DuoMAG 70BF Placebo Coil
Identical to the standard 70mm coil, but internally configured in such a way to deliver only peripheral stimulation but hears the ‘click’ synonymous with TMS, blinding the participant as to whether they are receiving active or sham stimulation. Anderson connector for compatibility across the DuoMAG range.
DuoMAG 70BF Air Cooled Coil
Figure of eight butterfly coil with 2x 70mm windings. Suitable for focused cortical stimulation and repetitive TMS applications. Two fans provide air cooling for prolonged use in rTMS protocols and paired-pulse protocols. Anderson connector for compatibility across the DuoMAG range. Can be used with Deymed counter-balanced electromagnetically controlled coil arm on MagTower or standard coil arm on MagCart.
DuoMAG 70BF Cooled Placebo Coil
Identical to the air-cooled 70mm coil, but an energy dispersal box mounted on the coil cable limits the amount of current reaching the coil. This in turn means the participant only feels peripheral stimulation on the scalp, but hears the ‘click’ synonymous with TMS, blinding the participant as to whether they are receiving active or sham stimulation.

DuoMAG 70BFX LQC Coil
Figure of eight coil with two 70mm overlapping windings. Suitable for focused cortical stimulation designed specifically with the comfort of the participant in mind during heavy dose or repetitive TMS. Active liquid cooling provides range-topping cooling performance.
DuoMAG 90BFVT LQC Coil
Figure of 8 V shaped ‘cone coil’ with two 90mm windings on a 120° angled surface and a T shape handle orientation. Suitable for deep stimulation of areas like Cerebellum. Active liquid cooling provides range-topping cooling performance.
DuoMAG 120BFV Coil

DuoMAG 100R Coil
Round coil with 100mm winding. Suitable for stimulation of peripheral nerves or shallow, non-focused cortical stimulation. Anderson connector for compatibility across the DuoMAG range.
DuoMAG 120BFVT Coil
Figure of 8 V shaped ‘cone coil’ with two 120mm windings on a 100° angled surface and a T shape handle orientation. Suitable for spinal stimulation and deep stimulation areas like Cerebellum.
DuoMAG 125R Coil
